The names of the food ingredients listed below have been copied from kosher food packaging, specifically that which was obtained when buying hechshered foods for my meals. No data derived from the packaging of non-kosher food, i.e. without a hechsher, is included. Each ingredient would have been certified kosher in order for the food to be labelled as kosher. In many cases I have added a descriptive term, e.g. (colouring).
Reading the list of ingredients on a food package is not always easy for the text may be (1) in a very small font size, (2) in a colour which does not contrast strongly with its background colour or (3) printed against a patterned or pictorial background.
A kashrut authority needs to have a deep knowledge of food chemistry and food technology in order to decide after examining a production process whether or not a resulting food product may be labelled as kosher. If you are eating any kind of kosher processed food then it is likely that you will have eaten a combination of some of the ingredients listed below. It's worth considering whether a kosher ingredient is also a healthy ingredient.
The inspiration for the centralised arrangement of the alphabetical list on this page was A Women's Thesaurus: An Index of Language Used to Describe and Locate Information by and About Women by Mary Ellen S. Capek. Harper & Row / Perennial Publishers, 1989. ISBN: 0-06-091552-8.

Excluded Ingredients
Some ingredients are excluded from foods and their absence may be cited as advantageous. Some are ..
rBST, a growth hormone used to enhance milk production in cows.
GM or GMO: Genetically Modified Organism. Fruit and vegetables may be labelled with a four-digit PLU number which indicates its type. An '8' prefix, 8xxxx, indicates genetically modified produce while a '9' prefix, 9xxxx, indicates organic produce. [more about PLUs]
